Jordan Henderson has spoken of his pride at being named Liverpool’s vice captain earlier this week.
Brendan Rodgers described the England midfielder as “the moral compass of our group” after choosing the former Sunderland man to be deputy to Steven Gerrard.
“It’s a great honour to be the vice captain of such a big club,” said Henderson on Sky Sports News.
"It's a great honour to be given the extra responsibility by the gaffer.”
Steven Gerrard has tipped Henderson to succeed him as captain and the 24-year-old believes there is no better player to learn from than the current Reds skipper.
“It’s a good feeling to come from one of the best leaders at Liverpool and England’s had but in the game itself," he added.
“He’s the perfect role model for any young player or any player in this team to look up to. I try to learn from him as best I can every single day.”
