Rangers are intent on signing Brighton winger Jamie Murphy, but the clubs are a long way from agreeing a fee, Sky Sports News understands.

Rangers are hoping a deal can be completed before the squad heads to Florida this weekend, but Sky sources say Murphy will be staying on the south coast unless Rangers meet Brighton's valuation, which is believed to be in the region of £1m.

Murphy, a boyhood Rangers fan, has long featured on the wanted list drawn up by Ibrox director of football Mark Allen.

The 28-year-old started his career at Motherwell before moving to Sheffield United in 2013. He joined Brighton in August 2015 and scored six goals in his first season with the club.
