Swansea defender Kyle Bartley has been ruled out for up to two months with a knee ligament injury.

Bartley landed awkwardly during the Swans' 4-1 Carabao Cup win over Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Leeds United and signed a four-year contract at the Liberty Stadium earlier this summer.

He made his first Premier League start since December 2015 in Swansea's 4-0 home defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

Swansea say Bartley will see a knee specialist next week to assess the injury further but manager Paul Clement is not planning to bring in defensive cover.

He said: "I expect we will stick with what we've got. We've got three good central defenders at the club.

"He was a player who did really well last season away on loan. The injury isn't as bad as it could have been so we are thankful for that although he's going to miss what could be six-to-eight weeks but not exactly sure."
