Tom Huddlestone set for £2m move back to Derby from Hull

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone looks set for a return to Derby after his former club activated his release clause.

Sky Sports News HQ understands Huddlestone has a £2m release clause in his Hull contract.

Huddlestone left the Rams for Tottenham in June 2005 and will now discuss personal terms over a return to Pride Park.

The 30-year-old made 23 Premier League starts as Hull were relegated from the top flight last season, having made the move from Spurs in 2013 for £5m.

Huddlestone has been a stalwart servant in Hull's midfield, scoring eight goals in 172 appearances on Humberside.

The Nottingham-born player began his career in Derby's academy and made his debut for the senior side at just 16 years old.

He went on to make almost 100 appearances for the Rams before joining Tottenham, where he made almost 200 appearances and broke into the England side.
