Wilfried Zaha has stepped up his recovery from an injured knee ahead of Roy Hodgson's imminent appointment as Crystal Palace boss.
Winger Zaha has been out since the first game of the season - a 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield on August 12 - and was expected to be out for a month.
He has begun running again on grass this week, posting a video on his social media account with the caption: "Finally back out running. Working hard to be back with the boys."
Zaha could be in contention for what is expected to be Hodgson's first game in charge against Southampton at Selhurst Park on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Hodgson is set to sign a two-year contract to succeed Frank de Boer, who was sacked on Monday following a fourth defeat out of four Premier League games at Burnley - the worst start to the season of any top-flight club in 93 years.
Both Hodgson and Zaha are from nearby Croydon and Hodgson gave the 24-year-old his only England cap in 2012, when he came on as a late substitute in the friendly against Sweden.
Hodgson resigned from his England post immediately after crashing out of the Euro 2016 knockout stages to Iceland, while Zaha has since decided to play for the Ivory Coast after being overlooked by Hodgson's successors Sam Allardyce and Gareth Southgate.
