Peter Crouch commits to Stoke until the summer of 2019

Peter Crouch has committed his future to Stoke until at least the summer of 2019 after agreeing a one-year extension.

The 36-year-old former England man has been a Premier League player since 2002 but remains a highly effective performer.

Renowned for his aerial prowess, the former Liverpool and Tottenham man joined Stoke for a then club-record £10m in 2011 and has scored 43 Premier League goals for the club.

Three of those goals have come this season and Crouch holds the records for most headed goals in the Premier League and most appearances as a substitute.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes said: "Peter has been with Stoke longer than he has been with any other club, which I think speaks volumes for how he views us and how we view him.

"He still has so much to offer us. He may be 36 but he continues to have a major impact on games, as he has proved on numerous occasions this season."

"Peter is happy here and made no secret of his desire to stay with the club. We're delighted with the news.

"There were one or two raised eyebrows when we signed Peter from Tottenham because it was a huge outlay for us as a club at the time, but he has now signed his fourth contract and has been a vital figure for us in the Premier League."

Crouch notched his 58th goal for Stoke in all competitions when he was on target earlier this month to salvage a late point at Leicester, and has now made 440 Premier League appearances in total.
