Rafa Benitez returned to work at Newcastle on Tuesday after eight days off recovering from surgery.
Benitez had an operation last Monday to treat an infection on a previous hernia.
The Spaniard was not well enough to attend Sunday's win at Swansea despite the club organising a helicopter to fly him to and from the Liberty Stadium.
But he was driven from his Merseyside home to Newcastle on Monday and was back at work at the training ground the following morning.
Newcastle's players had a day off on Tuesday, but Benitez will be present to take training when they return.
He expects to be in the dug-out when Stoke visit St James' Park on Saturday.
