Toby Alderweireld is fully committed to Tottenham, insists Mauricio Pochettino, despite suggestions he may leave the club.

Alderweireld's advisor, Stijn Francis, urged Tottenham to offer the centre-back improved contract terms, with his current deal set to expire in summer 2019, or sanction a transfer elsewhere.

If Spurs trigger a year-long extension in 2019, Alderweireld can leave for a fee of £25m, and the club want to eradicate this clause from any new deal.

Tottenham manager Pochettino insists Alderweireld remains focused on Spurs, though, following talks between the pair on Thursday.

"It is true, there is a lot of rumours in the last few days," he said. "He was talking with me in my office this morning.

Pochettino says that Dele Alli's gesture away on England duty was not a fantastic but believes it was just a joke with Kyle Walker

"He is happy, he wants to make fully clear his position that he is fully committed to the club. He is happy with his contract - two years plus one - but it is not easy.
