City clinched a record 14th consecutive top-flight victory in the sweetest possible manner with a 2-1 win over rivals United at Old Trafford.

Oasis legend Gallagher was sat alongside Gary Neville and Graeme Souness for the Super Sunday coverage. Here's a summary of his best lines during an entertaining show...

On record-breaking City...

"We did it. We got the record. It was a tough game. When it was 1-1, I didn't know how it was going to pan out. But we were brilliant. You didn't want to lose that record here - I've been here when they play 'glory, glory Man Utd' and not let you out of the stadium. You could get battered here but today we stood up to it. They never stop playing. There's no long balls. It's going to be a great night in Manchester tonight - I don't think I'll be going home."

On David Silva...

"Dave will go down as the best player we ever had, although the longer Kevin De Bruyne stays here, he'll get close. He's the best player I've ever seen play for City. The only thing Pep would change would be that he's not three years younger. There was a moment when City kept the ball by the corner flag for a few minutes and we were saying that the old United team, somebody would have taken those players out - but United were accepting that the game had gone."

On Pep Guardiola...

"When the new owners took over, he was the guy they wanted and it's all coming to fruition now. When he arrived, the club asked me to do an interview with him for City TV and we've kept in touch. He's a dude. There's not many people in football who actually like talking about football - he would gladly talk to you about what's going on. He does exactly what he says on the tin. Long may it continue."

On United fans...

"It's payback time - Gary [Neville] has lauded it up at ours many times down the years. It's a pleasure to be sat beside him. Respect to the United fans who clapped Pep Guardiola off - they know they've seen something special today."

On Jose Mourinho's post-match interview...

"The hypocrisy of the man is staggering."
