The injury means the Republic of Ireland international will also miss his country's crunch World Cup Qualifier against Austria in the Aviva Stadium in June.

The 27-year-old started for Ireland in midfield during the 0-0 draw against Wales last month, when he was brought into the line-up following James McCarthy's late withdrawal.
