Burnley boss Sean Dyche says his side do not need lifting after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United

Sean Dyche thinks Burnley remain in "good shape" to avoid relegation this season despite slipping closer to the drop zone with defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial were on target as Manchester United eased to a 2-0 win at Turf Moor.

Dyche's side have won just one of their past 11 Premier League games and after wins for Swansea and Hull this weekend are now just five points above the relegation zone.

The Clarets have won just once since January and though boss Dyche said the sequence of fixtures they have come through was tricky, he was keen to highlight they are still in good shape before the final stretch.

"On paper it looked like a tough run and it was always going to be, especially with the form Everton are in at their place and then Manchester United 22 unbeaten before today," he said.

"We've cheated the system a few times in what people think of a game, but you can't do that all the time. We've done it well here, we've played some teams who are well fancied here and taken 10 Premier League wins.

"When you look at the points on the board now and historically with our last two efforts we're in good shape - against all the odds, no-one gave us any chance at all."
