Andy Carroll will miss West Ham's clash with Everton after suffering a recurrence of a groin problem in the Hammers' draw with Sunderland.

Slaven Bilic revealed the injury was sustained by Carroll miskicking a ball during the opening five minutes of last weekend's 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Carroll's wayward effort fell at the feet of Andre Ayew, who tapped in the opening goal at the Stadium of Light.

"It's his abductor muscle again," Bilic said. "He felt it in the beginning of the game.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic hasn't ruled out making a move for John Terry this summer

"We can talk about a miskick or an assist for Andre's goal, but he said at that moment he felt it.

"He had a scan after the game, it showed nothing major but it's serious enough to rule him out of Saturday's game."

The groin issue is the latest in a catalogue of injury problems for the former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker, who missed the first part of the season with a knee injury and suffered whiplash after scoring an overhead kick against Crystal Palace in January.

With top-scorer Michail Antonio out for the rest of the season, Bilic will be hoping Diafra Sakho will be available to face Ronald Koeman's side.

Sunderland 2-2 West Ham

There was speculation Sakho did not travel to Sunderland after refusing to be a substitute, but Bilic has denied reports of a bust-up.

"He was injured," the Hammers boss said. "There was no row, I should know about that because it was me who spoke with him."

Meanwhile, Bilic has refused to rule out a summer move for John Terry, who announced last week he is leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.

"We are going to see," Bilic said. "I'm a big admirer of John, he is one of the best that ever played, not only in that position but in general.

"He won everything, he did everything and we are talking about an England captain, a true leader.

"We are pretty well covered in that position, we have quality and we have experience, but we will see. You never say never."
