Monaco are interested in signing Newcastle and Brighton target Stevan Jovetic, Sky Sports News understands.

The 27-year-old former Manchester City forward has been told he can leave Inter Milan this summer, having spent last season on loan at Sevilla in Spain.

Monaco are on the hunt for replacements for Kylian Mbappe, who is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan ahead of a permanent switch next summer.

And Jovetic is available having reportedly turned down an approach from newly-promoted Premier League side Brighton. Rafa Benitez's Newcastle remain keen.

Jovetic left Man City for Inter on an initial loan deal during the 2015-16 season after failing to establish himself under Manuel Pellegrini. He made only 28 Premier League appearances in three years at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola allowed that Inter deal to become permanent last summer following his arrival but Jovetic almost immediately moved to La Liga, where he made 21 appearances and scored six goals for Sevilla.
