David Luiz suffered a small fracture in his wrist against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last Sunday, Sky sources understand.

Luiz, who was sent off in the goalless draw, collided with hoardings but is now wearing a splint to support the injury.

The Brazilian received a straight red card for a nasty challenge on Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac in the closing stages of the match.

Graeme Souness says David Luiz should have seen red earlier in Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal, while Thierry Henry agrees there was ‘no doubt’ about his sending off.

Luiz is serving a three-match ban and will miss Wednesday night's Carabao Cup clash with Nottingham Forest, as well as Premier League fixtures against Stoke City and Manchester City.

The 30-year-old is expected to fit for Chelsea's visit to Crystal Palace after the international break on October 14.
