All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours from across the British and European press on Monday, January 15.

Alexis Sanchez dominates the Manchester United rumours today, with Sky sources understanding that the club are confident of signing the Arsenal forward.

Sky Sports News understands United are interested in beating local rivals Manchester City to the signing of Sanchez this month, and it emerged on Friday that City are not prepared to pay Arsenal's £35m valuation.

United are reportedly set to offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of a swap deal to lure Sanchez away from the Emirates.

The Daily Star also says United believe they are now in pole position to sign Sanchez after a secret nine-month pursuit.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid this summer and his priority is to return to United, according to AS.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is unhappy that promises over a new contract have not been kept and is ready to call time on his glittering nine-year stay in Spain's capital.

Lucas Moura has dropped a clear hint he expects to leave Paris Saint-Germain for a move to the Premier League.

Manchester United are interested in the Brazil international but no offer has been made yet, Sky Sports News understands.

He said: "It feels like the end of a story for me, unfortunately," adding that it will be "very difficult" to stay. When asked about the Premier League, he said: "English football pleases me a lot. It's the most keenly contested."

Jose Mourinho also expects goalkeeper David de Gea to be offered a new long-term contract by the club.

"The option, it's obvious that we're not going to let the option disappear," the manager said. "A goalkeeper like he is and obviously a club that wants to be better and better and better, we are not going to let that year option go away.

"But obviously we are going to try [for a new deal]."

Mourinho is to make a final decision on Timothy Fosu-Mensah's Manchester United future, the Daily Mirror reports, with the defender currently on loan at Crystal Palace.

The manager is said to be impressed with the Dutchman's development at Selhurst Park, with Fosu-Mensah saying: "I've spoken to Jose this season. He's positive, it's good to have contact with him and he said I have to keep going so that's what I'm trying to do.

"I want to go back to Old Trafford and push for a place next season. But my focus now is on Crystal Palace."
