Hearts are in talks with Manchester United to sign left-back Demetri Mitchell on loan until the end of the season, according to Sky sources.
The 21-year-old first made his debut for United after coming off the bench against Crystal Palace at the end of last season, although he has not made a senior appearance for the club since.
A deal is yet to be agreed between the two parties, but Mitchell could join the Hearts squad in time to feature for next Sunday's Edinburgh derby against Hibernian in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
Hearts flew to Spain on Thursday morning for a five-day winter training camp, where they'll play two closed-door friendlies against Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and German club FC Nurnberg.
Mitchell is set to become the second United youngster to leave Old Trafford on loan this week, with James Wilson joining Sheffield United on Wednesday for the remainder of the season.
