We round up the latest Manchester United transfers rumours from around the British and European press on Sunday, August 6.
Manchester United are considering making a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, according to Spanish publication Don Balon.
Roberto's future at Barcelona is reportedly unclear after Ernesto Valverde's arrival, with Barca also poised to make new additions after Neymar's departure.
Apparently Roberto has a £36m release clause and United, Chelsea and Monaco are weighing up offers.
The Guardian say Gareth Bale has been told he is the future of Real Madrid and will not be sold.
United are said to have a "continuing interest" in Bale, but it is reported that the 28-year-old is one of Real's "prime assets" and he is keen to see out his contract which lasts until 2022.
Ian Rush has told fellow Wales legend Bale to stay at Real Madrid.
"If he's happy then Gareth should stay in Spain, 100 per cent. He has improved as a player. He's got great players like Cristiano Ronaldo to keep learning from. There are not many better clubs in the world than Real Madrid," Rush is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
"I know that if he decided to come to England he would have the choice of all the top clubs here. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool would all want him. There's always a time and a place to come back but I don't think it should be now. He is still relatively young."
