Borussia Dortmund want Olivier Giroud and open talks with Arsenal over January deal for striker
Germans set to lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Gunners and want to poach Giroud as his replacement
BORUSSIA DORTMUND have reportedly opened talks with Arsenal over a move for Olivier Giroud.
The Daily Mail claims the Germans are targeting Giroud as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is expected to fill the void left behind at the Emirates by Alexis Sanchez.
Arsene Wenger is ready to do business this month after green-lighting an Old Trafford switch for out-of-contract Sanchez.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be set to move the opposite way, putting him on course for a reunion with old Dortmund team-mate Aubameyang.
However, the arrival of another striker in north London is sure to see the likes of Giroud slip down the pecking order even further.
And it now seems the France international could be saved by swapping places with Aubameyang before the winter window closes.

Dortmund are keen to ensure they land at least one striker this window as they bid for a top-four finish.
Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi is believed to be on their radar, but Dortmund are now understood to favour a move for Giroud.

The report adds that Arsenal will also snub an offer from Turkish giants Besiktas for Danny Welbeck.
They will also resist bids for Mesut Ozil, with Wenger confident he can persuade the German to pen a new deal.
