Newcastle and Burnley battle it out for £18million-rated Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera
Spanish international earned his first cap last year and is thought to be keen on a switch to the Premier League
NEWCASTLE and Burnley are just two Premier League sides chasing Spanish midfielder Jonathan Viera, according to reports.
The 28-year-old is thought to be allowed to leave rock-bottom Las Palmas in January if clubs match their £17.8million valuation.
Viera starred for Las Palmas last season scoring seven goals and assisting seven which earned him a call-up to the Spain national side.
But he has struggled to maintain the same form with his team languishing at the foot of La Liga.
And the Premier League duo are ready to take advantage of their league position by luring their most creative talent to England's top flight, report the Telegraph.
Both sides are among the lowest scorers in the Premier League and are looking to add a different dimension to their attack in the second half of the season.
Viera began his career at Las Palmas before moving onto Valencia in 2012.
He had a loan spell at Rayo Vallecano and then moved to Standard Liege before moving back to his boyhood club in 2015.

Viera was linked with a Premier League switch in the summer with Swansea and Newcastle interested but it is believed they were priced out of a move.
