Man City 4 Bournemouth 0 match highlights: Sergio Aguero strikes twice to leave Cherries in relegation trouble
Pep Guardiola's side maintain their strangle-hold on top spot in the Premier League as they continue their march towards the title by seeing off Eddie Howe's struggling team
SERGIO AGUERO picked off the Cherries as Manchester City secured a staggering 17th straight win.
The Argentine scored two headers either side of his assist for Raheem Sterling, before substitute Danilo added a fourth.
And this victory means Pep Guardiola’s side have now bettered the best league winning run the Spaniard enjoyed with his old club Barcelona in 2010-11.
They are also only two wins away from matching the 19-game streak Pep enjoyed at Bayern Munich in 2013-14 - a record in one of the top five European leagues.
But more importantly it extended City’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 14 points before second-placed Manchester United visit Leicester tonight.
Despite the scorline, Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth did not disgrace themselves.
But they are now without a win in seven matches and have fallen into the bottom three.
Aguero gave the Cherries an early warning when he brought down Nicolas Otamendi’s ball over the top but chipped over Asmir Begovic’s bar.
Otamendi then tested the visiting stopper himself with a powerful drive from 35 yards.
But if Begovic impressed with that save, he was at fault for City’s opener on 27 minutes.
Rather than hoofing a back pass clear, the Bosnian tried to play it out from defence in the style of their hosts, only for Fabian Delph to steal possession.

The ball then found its way to Fernandinho, who crossed in left-footed and Aguero beat the offside trap to expertly steer his header past Begovic for his 100th goal in all competitions at the Etihad.
City, though, were not having it all their own way with the pace of Jordan Ibe and Callum Wilson causing the home defence – in particular Otamendi - a few problems.
But they put the game to bed eight minutes after the break when Sterling grabbed his 16th goal of the season – and his seventh in five league games against Bournemouth.
From Silva’s pass, Aguero flicked the ball into the box where Kevin De Bruyne was stood in an offside position.
The Belgian was in Bournemouth’s way but he was not deemed to be interfering and Sterling was left free to finish.
Aguero added another – his 15th of the season – when nodded in from substitute Bernardo Silva’s centre 11 minutes from time.
And six minutes later, fellow replacement Danilo fired in his first City goal from Sterling's pass.
What they said
Man City boss Pep Guardiola: "I respect a lot about Sergio, about all he has done, what he has done and what he will do in the future.
"He is a legend and he will decide absolutely everything about his life and his future, and I am delighted to have him here with Gabriel and all of the squad."
