And he is also looking to rebuild a reputation shattered by miserable spells in charge of Manchester United and Sunderland.

He failed to last a season at Old Trafford having been appointed to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson in charge after earning his stripes with a decade at Everton.

And things got worse when he opted to become Sunderland manager as his side crashed to relegation from the Premier League last season.

Moyes' reputation was at such an all-time low there were even huge protests from West Ham fans when he was appointed as replacement for the sacked Slaven Bilic.

West Ham have shown signs of getting their season back on track in the last couple of weeks having taken seven points from their last three matches.

Victories over Chelsea and Stoke as well as a draw against Arsenal has seen the club climb out of the bottom three in the Premier League.

And they now face fellow strugglers Newcastle and Bournemouth in their next two matches in the knowledge maximum points will lift them well clear of the drop zone.

Before that Moyes is hoping to lead the Hammers into the Carabao Cup semi-final when his team face Arsenal at the Emirates tonight.

The Hammers boss has lodged an appeal against the FA charge of diving which threatens to rob him of Manuel Lanzini for the next two matches.

A decision will be made before 6pm, meaning Lanzini will not know whether he will be clear to face the Gunners or not until just before kick-off.
