Kylian Mbappe beats Anthony Martial to prestigious French Young Player of the Year award
Manchester United star had been hoping to take home top prize ahead of his Paris Saint-Germain compatriot
KYLIAN MBAPPE has been named French Young Player of the Year ahead of Anthony Martial.
The award, handed out by Telefoot, saw the Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United stars lock horns with Marseille prodigy Maxime Lopez, who finished third.
But it was Mbappe who went home with the prestigious prize ahead of Martial following a combination of votes from the public as well as football experts.
Funnily enough, it was Lopez who topped the public poll ahead of Mbappe, Martial, Lyon’s Lucas Tousart, Celtic’s Moussa Dembele and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.
While Mbappe was crowned top dog by officials, with Martial in second and Ousmane Dembele third.
However, Mbappe’s high ranking in the public vote saw him emerge as the overall No 1.
