Watford close to £3million deal for 18-year-old Swedish goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg
WATFORD are close to landing £3million teenage goalkeeping sensation Pontus Dahlberg, according to reports.
The IFC Goteberg 18-year-old has made 29 appearances so far this season after making his breakthrough at the start of April.
The starlet was an unused sub 22 times in the league last season but has now made the No1 spot his own.
And Swedish newspaper Barometern claim the club is hunting for a replacement for Dahlberg as the Hornets get closer to a deal.
Despite a dip in Premier League form – Watford have failed to win any of their last four games – first-choice keeper Heurelho Gomes has done very little wrong.
The Brazilian penalty-saving specialist has been one of a number of success stories at the club.
But manager Marco Silva is going to be backed in the transfer market after impressing with summer deals for Richarlison.
Arsenal and Everton have also had a thorough look at Dahlberg after his early first-team promotion was bound to attract attention.
