MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in signing Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to reports.
The German midfielder, who shone as his country claimed Confederations Cup glory last year, is a target for several of Europe's top clubs.
Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have been keeping an eye on the midfielder.
And Sky Sports report United are also interested, with Goretzka free to talk to potential suitors from January 1.
Schalke are desperate to keep their star man and would be willing to make him the highest-paid player in the club's history.
However, they confirmed they would not let Goretzka, 22, leave for any price and were willing to keep him for the remainder of his contract and lose him on a free — like they did with Sead Kolasniac.
