IF you believe the hype, Manchester City have already been crowned Premier League champions for 2017-18... in November.

Granted, Pep Guardiola's men have got off to an astonishing start - the best in top-flight history, in fact.

City have won 12 of their 13 games - drawing the other - to pick up 37 points already.

With Pep's men storming clear of the chasing pack, many have suggested the powers that be carve City's name into the trophy.

However, don't rule out neighbours Manchester United just yet.

After all, Jose Mourinho's men sit just five points behind City - albeit having played one extra game.

With ten wins, two draws and two defeats from their first 14 games, United have earned 32 points.

Amazingly, the Old Trafford outfit have won NINE Premier League title having picked up fewer points than they have so far this term.

In only FOUR of United's 13 Premier League title crowns have they picked up more than this season's tally of 32 points.

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, United picked up 33 points in 2012-13 and 2000-01, while earning 35 points in 2006-07 and 37 in 1993-94.

The news will come as a huge lift to Man United fans who are being told daily they can't hold a candle to City's rampant squad.

Amazingly, the Red Devils have won the Premier League after picking up just 21 points from their first 14 games - in 1992-93.

That year, Fergie led United to just five wins in that span - but still won the title.

The Old Trafford side also won the Premier League twice after picking up a mere 23 points, three times on 28 points and twice on 30.

United also won the league in 1995-96 having picked up 32 points... the same as the present day.
