Chelsea target Mauro Icardi backed to stay at Inter Milan ‘forever’ by boss Luciano Spalletti despite £100m interest
Free-scoring striker has emerged as a target for the Blues as well as heavyweights Real Madrid and Bayern Munich
INTER MILAN boss Luciano Spalletti reckons Chelsea target Mauro Icardi could stay at Inter Milan “forever” after his blistering start to the season.
Argentina international Icardi has scored an incredible 13 goals in 13 Serie A games this term.
And his fine form has Inter competing for their first title since Jose Mourinho’s 2010 treble-winning campaign.
However, the bad news for the Nerazzurri is that Icardi is now attracting interest from a number of major teams across Europe.
Chelsea are believed to be keen on launching a club-record £100million bid for the 24-year-old.
While there have also been links with German champs Bayern Munich and Champions League holders Real Madrid.

However, Icardi’s boss Spalletti reckons his star man does not want to quit the San Siro, and could instead spend the rest of his career in the fashion capital of the world.
Spalletti said: “Who does not want Icardi? I love him at Inter and when I talk to him I can sense that the city, his team-mates, the club, the fans are all things to which he is strongly attached.

“I am convinced he can stay at Inter forever. [Title chances?] For now there is not [a gap] anymore, but we have to carry on what we have done.
“Every match, we have to start from scratch and put our quality on the field. We must play without respite – that is our motto.”
