Arsenal still long way ahead of Tottenham while Mesut Ozil would have been slaughtered if played like Dele Alli, claims Jamie Carragher

The Gunners closed the gap on Tottenham to a point with that emphatic derby win and Carragher has been hugely critical of Dele Alli's performance at the Emirates

ARSENAL are still way ahead of Tottenham despite claims they are falling behind their great rivals, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Gunners produced their best performance of the season so far on Saturday as they brushed aside Spurs at the Emirates to move within a point of their local rivals.

And despite finishing above Arsenal last season and regardless if the same happens again, the former Liverpool defender is not buying into any talk of a power shift in North London.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “Tottenham just have the edge and will finish above Arsenal this season, but a power shift, no.

“It has to be five or six seasons where you finish above your rival. I think a big foreign player would choose Arsenal.

“Until we start treating Tottenham like we treat Arsenal, the Manchester clubs and Liverpool, that's when you think they have overtaken them.”

Carragher saved some of his criticism for Spurs attacker Dele Alli, who was off the pace at the Emirates on Saturday.
The 21-year-old was dragged off after 75 minutes and is set to be dropped for the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.

WINDOW ZIL Could Mesut Ozil be set to make a return to Spain in January?

And the Sky Sports pundit insists his showing has not been put under the microscope as much as it should have been.

Carragher added: “If Mesut Ozil performed the way Dele Alli did in that game, we would be slaughtering Ozil.

“We still think of Spurs as a young team, there is no bigger fan of Spurs than me, love the way they play, the manager, the players, but we still don't treat them the way we do the other big players.

“You look at the Spurs players and think, come on, you have got to step up, now is the time.”

Mauricio Pochettino will demand his side get back to winning ways against the Bundesliga side in Germany to seal top spot in Group H.
