CRYSTAL PALACE star Pape Souare is being privately prosecuted over the 2016 car crash that saw him break his right thigh and jaw.

Souare, 27, had to be cut from his Mercedes in the incident on the M4, before being summoned to court on dangerous driving charges.

After dropping off a friend at Heathrow Airport the Eagles star crashed his Mercedes into the central reservation.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off his G63 SUV the to rescue him from the wreckage.

Now, prosecution is being brought by Darshan Dube, who himself was charged by police for driving his BMW without due care and attention.

Souare appeared at Isleworth Crown Court on dangerous driving charges following the incident on the M4 on September 11, 2016.

However, the Senegal star failed to enter a plea deal with the case now set to go to trial on July 16, 2018.

The smash left Souare with a host of injuries and was ultimately forced into being airlifted to hospital.

But Dube, 34 - of Slough - is now undergoing private prosecution procedures.

Souare’s lawyer Ian Bridge told the court he would be making dismissal and abuse of process applications before the trial date.

The Crystal Palace ace, who only recently returned to first-team action after just over a year out, was a prosecution witness in that case.

Souare joined the Selhurst Park club from French outfit Reims in January 2015 in a £3.5million deal.

Since then, the Senegalese international has featured 46 times in the Premier League - with 34 of those games coming in 2015-16.

Souare has played just twice this season, both in the Carabao Cup as he works his way back to full fitness.
