EVERTON twice fought back from behind thanks to a horrible dive and a fine finish from Oumar Niasse.

The Senegalese striker, who almost joined Palace on deadline, was in the thick of the action after the James McArthur fired the hosts ahead after just FIFTY-ONE SECONDS.

Leighton Baines levelled with a seventh minute penalty, which ref Anthony Taylor awarded after Niasse went down in the box under a challenge from Eagles skipper Scott Dann.

But TV replays showed the Toffee had in fact dived and he can now surely expect a two-game ban under the FA’s new retrospective punishment award for play-acting.

Wilfried Zaha slotted in Joel Ward’s cross to restore the Eagles’ advantage in the 36th minute.

But Niasse made it 2-2 on the stroke of half-time when he stroked the ball home after Palace keeper Julian Speroni had played his skipper Dann into trouble with a terrible pass.

Wayne Rooney was dropped to the bench for the visitors and they almost took the lead at the start of the second half when sub Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s close-range shot was blocked by Speroni.

Palace sent on Christian Benteke in the 76th minute and he missed a clear chance before having a 20 yard shot beaten away by Jordan Pickford.
