Olivier Giroud a major doubt for north London derby after picking up thigh strain on international duty
French striker has returned to the Gunners for further assessment after scoring against Wales on Friday night
OLIVIER GIROUD could miss the huge north London derby next weekend after picking up a thigh strain in France's win over Wales.
The striker was subbed off for club team-mate Alexandre Lacazette just two minutes after putting Les Bleus two goals ahead in Paris.
But he will now miss Tuesday's friendly against world champions Germany after returning to Arsenal for further assessment.
The Gunners medical staff will run tests to find out the severity of Giroud's injury but he remains a huge doubt for the home clash against rivals Tottenham on Saturday.
The 31-year-old was spotted with heavy bandaging wrapped around his thigh and was also applying an icepack to his leg after being hooked off.
Giroud also admitted he felt a slight pain in the warm up but decided to play anyway.
He later revealed after the game: "It's a small muscle [injury]. I put on a trap and took one of two anti-inflammatories and it allowed me to play.
"I can not tell you more for Tuesday at the moment."
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will now be on tenter hooks with Lacazette braced to face Germany in the week.
The Gunners will head into the game four points behind Mauricio Pochettino's side but Spurs have injury concerns of their own.
Keeper Hugo Lloris remains a doubt whilst Victor Wanyama and Toby Alderweireld are both likely to be ruled out.
Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks have all missed international duty this week in the hope of recovering in time to face Arsenal.
