West Ham laud David Moyes’ achievements at Manchester United after succeeding Slaven Bilic as Hammers boss
The London club have praised the 54-year-old's spell with the Red Devils, despite being sacked just ten months into the 2013/14 season
WEST HAM have praised David Moyes' spell at Manchester United, despite being sacked just ten months into his reign.
The 54-year-old was named as the new Hammers boss on Tuesday, replacing Slaven Bilic after the London club lost 4-1 to Liverpool on Saturday.
And despite a humiliating end to his Red Devils career, West Ham have instead lauded his time at Old Trafford in a desperate effort to get fans behind him.
In a statement on their website this morning, they said: "Moyes won the Community Shield at Wembley in August – becoming the first Manchester United manager ever to win a trophy in his first season in charge, but left the club after just ten months."
And while the former Everton boss did manage to win a piece of silverware, his short stay at the Theatre of Dreams was marred by disastrous results.
He lost a whopping 15 out of 51 games in all competitions, and was relieved of his duties in April 2014 with the club sitting seventh in the Premier League.
It was the third shortest reign of any United manager in history, and his dream ended up as a nightmare.
And West Ham didn't stop there in trying to make Moyes look better, as they paid tribute to his time in Spain, where again he was dismissed after less than a year.

The Hammers said: "In November 2014, he took over at Real Sociedad for a year-long spell in Spain’s La Liga, leading the club to a famous win over Barcelona in January 2015, before returning to the Premier League in the summer of 2016 with Sunderland, where a difficult year ended in relegation last season."
He ended his sting with the The Whites and Blues with a measly win percentage of 28.57%, losing 15 out his 42 games.

Speaking earlier today, joint-chairman David Sullivan said: "We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David is the right man to turn things around and get the best out of the players at the Club.
"He is highly regarded and respected within the game, and will bring fresh ideas, organisation and enthusiasm.
“He proved with Everton that he has great qualities and we feel that West Ham United is a Club that will give David the platform to display those qualities again.”
