Manchester United are statistically the LAZIEST Premier League team so far this season

Jose Mourinho's men have run a combined 1,162km in the 2017-18 season so far, nearly 100km LESS than Bournemouth

MANCHESTER UNITED are statistically the LAZIEST Premier League team so far this season.

Jose Mourinho's men slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Sunday, as they put in a distinctly sub-par performance.

In fact, after a flying start to the season, where United kept up with steamrolling Manchester City, the Old Trafford outfit have fallen away of late.

Despite a 1-0 win over Tottenham a little over a week ago, United's loss at Stamford Bridge now sees them sit EIGHT points behind Pep Guardiola and Co.

Mourinho has come in for plenty of criticism of late too, as fans grow frustrated - and concerned - by his defensive style.

In games against the top six clubs, including recent outings against Liverpool, Spurs and the Blues, Mourinho has resorted to his typical bus parking tactics.

United stole a goal against Tottenham thanks to substitute Anthony Martial, but drew a blank in the other two games.

In fact, as a squad combined, United's stars have run just 1,162km this season... nearly 100km behind league-leading Bournmeouth (1,255.8km).

West Brom and Tottenham come in second and third in the energy stakes - both boasting records of more than 1,245km.

Watford, Burnley, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brighton, Man City and Huddersfield complete the top ten, with high-energy Liverpool surprisingly only coming in at 11th.

At the other end of the table, West Ham and Swansea sit in the "relegation zone", with Stoke, Southampton and Leicester just above them.

David Moyes - hired as new Hammers boss on Tuesday - would like to think getting his players to run more will pay dividends.

After all, the lacklustre Irons slipped into the drop zone under Slaven Bilic, who was sacked after Saturday's 4-1 crushing at home to Liverpool.
