Gigi Buffon amazingly suggests that Wojciech Szczesny is a better keeper than him
Says retiring Juventus legend Buffon: 'They bought a younger and better goalkeeper than me like Szczesny'
JUVENTUS legend Gigi Buffon has amazingly suggested that Wojciech Szczesny is a better keeper than him.
Well, maybe at the moment.
Szczesny, 27, completed a £10million move from Arsenal to Juventus this summer.
The Polis stopper played 132 games for Arsenal before spending some time on loan at Brentford.
Then he spent two seasons at Roma before signing a four-year deal with the Italian champions. He has played three games so far.
And it looks as though he'll soon be edging Buffon, a veteran of 173 caps for Italy, out.
Arsenal Transfer Stories
Certainly Buffon, 40, thinks so.
He said: “I will retire because I need to respect the choices of the club.

"They bought a younger and better goalkeeper than me like Szczesny.
"I don’t want to put Juve in a difficult position. New goalkeepers must replace me and they should do it quickly.
"The only thing I can do is to train and work hard and honour my career until the end.”
Buffon made his international debut 20 years ago on October 29, 1997 against Russia in the World Cup.
In 2006 Italy won the World Cup and Buffon said: "The dream and the idea of being able to represent my nation, to feel for 20 years the hymn before entering the race...
"To have been lucky to have won a World Championship and have given our citizens and sportsmen such a great joy is worth a lifetime.
"Italy, Juventus and Parma have taught me a way of life.
