BBQ sauce-bottle mascot for Australian side Central Coast Mariners warned after swearing at Newcastle Jets fans
Condiment boss MasterFoods released a statement saying: 'You’ll see the sauce bottle mascots in finer form at the next home game. '
A SAUCE BOTTLE mascot for Australia A-League side Central Coast Mariners has been warned after swearing at Newcastle Jets fans.
The home side was trounced by the Jets thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Roy Donovan and last-minute strikes from Joseph Champness and Dimitri Petratos.
And the BBQ condiment talisman could not handle the “who are ya?” taunts from the visiting Jets crowd who were relishing their side’s performance.
While the ketchup colleague was enjoying the banter, fuming barbecue started sticking his fingers up at the away end of the Central Coast Stadium.
An official statement from the food company said provides the touchline entertainment revealed the sweary lucky charm had been dragged over hot coals – and probably used in a marinade – over the incident.
The offensive dip has been threatened with a return to kitchen cupboard with a more mild-mannered mustard likely to take his place in the starting line-up.

The bottle-bosses said: "The MasterFoods barbecue sauce bottle mascot has been given a yellow card after its response to Newcastle Jets fans.
"While the sauce bottle mascots are synonymous with A-League games hosted on the Central Coast, the behaviour of the barbecue sauce bottle is not reflective of the family-friendly MasterFoods way.
"You’ll see the sauce bottle mascots in finer form at the next home game.
“Following his yellow card, barbecue knows that another one might mean some time on the bench and a promotion for mustard to the starting line-up with tomato.”
