Blues missed him badly as Michy Batshuayi struggled in the defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Antonio Conte said before the game that he expected Morata to be back for the Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

And Morata looked poised to make his comeback after taking a full part in Conte's preparations.

Blues have won their opening two matches against Qarabag and Atletico Madrid.

Cahill said: "He is back out on the pitch and hopefully he keeps progressing okay.

"The result is gone and you go in and you work and produce a performance on Wednesday that we know we can, get that winning feeling back and then we go from there."

Blues are without Victor Moses, N'Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater for the game against Roma.

All three have hamstring problems, with Moses facing a month out after limping off at Selhurt Park.
