TOTTENHAM could renew their interest in Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in January, according to reports.

The Portuguese midfielder has failed to nail down a regular spot in Ernesto Valverde's first-team, and could be set for a cut-price move away from the Bernabeu.

Gomes, 24, has not lived up to his billing and is stuck in the shadow of 33-year-old Andres Iniesta.

The former Valencia player joined Barca for £45m in the summer of 2016, but could well be calling Wembley home from January, then White Hart Lane for season 2018/19.

Spurs have been tipped off Gomes will be let out in the next window, and are already preparing their moves, according to the Daily Mail.

SunSport reported last week how Gomes, along with Rafinha and Paco Alcacer are set to be flogged in the new year.

Spurs' tracking of Gomes puts doubt against a January move for Barkley.

The Everton contract rebel would involve a big fee, whereas Gomes may even get to go on loan or for a fee of £20million.

Meanwhile, Spurs have looked to tie down Dele Alli on a new long-term deal.

The England ace has opened talks over a new contract that will see him bag more than £100,000-a-week.

Barkley rejected a deadline day move to Chelsea.

And subsequent reports suggested he would snub North London for West London in the new year.
