Walters will now miss Ireland's World Cup play-off tie at the end of November.

The Irish ace was with his national team-mates for their 1-0 win over Wales earlier this week.

However, he has not played a competitive game since September 2, when Ireland drew 1-1 away to Georgia.

Walters' last Premier League match-up was in the 1-0 home loss to West Brom, having beaten Chelsea in the 3-2 thriller a week prior.

The knee is becoming a real problem for Walters now.

The forward has been forced into two separate "clean-up" operations in the past 18 months.

Walters' first came in March 2016, before undergoing the same surgery in the January of this year.

Irish ace Walters only joined Burnley this summer following seven seasons at Stoke.
