Slovenia striker Martin Kramaric was urging the Belgian referee to punish Muric for a challenge in the box on Zan Zuzek and gave the ‘keeper a light shove in the back.
But Muric’s reaction was to turn round and thrust his head aggressively into Kramaric’s face, barely a yard away from the official.
After being shown a red card, the Swiss-born Montenegrin tossed the ball in the direction of Zuzek, who was still lying on the ground.
City signed Muric, 18, from Grasshoppers Zurich in July and he travelled with the first-team squad to the Champions League match against Feyenoord last month.
