GARETH BALE is set to be offered to Manchester United for £89m after his latest injury blow, according to reports.

The Wales star has repeatedly said he is happy in Madrid and does not want to move, but that might be out of his hands.

Bale, 28, has been on the sidelines for both club and country in recent weeks with the latest injury on his calf.

It has frustrated Real Madrid supporters no end, given he scored a stunning opener for the European champions just before hobbling off injured.

According to El Confidencial, Bale has been "losing importance in the team" and the Spanish publication have suggested Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing him to Manchester United.

Even Mourinho might find Bale's injury record tough to overcome though, with the Portuguese requiring players to play hard for him and have a consistent run in the team - something Bale has been unable to manage.

They also state that Forentino Perez wants to recoup the entire £85m he spent on the Cardiff man - which would be worth around £89.3m in today's exchange rate.

It is no secret either, that Real did not miss Bale as they went into last season's Champions League final in his home town.

Isco has emerged as one of Spanish football's biggest creative talents over the last 12 months and Marco Asensio scored in last season's showpiece European final.

Bale was in the stands as Wales missed out of continuing their World Cup qualification bid with a 1-0 home defeat to Ireland.
