Leicester and West Brom amongst host of Premier League clubs chasing ex-Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles
Portuguese ace, who also played for Chelsea, is currently a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce in the summer of 2016
LEICESTER and West Brom are amongst a host of Premier League clubs chasing ex-Liverpool ace Raul Meireles.
The Portuguese midfielder, 34, who also played for Chelsea, is currently a free agent after leaving Fenerbahce at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Swansea and Watford are also keen on the Prem veteran - who spent a season apiece at the Reds and the Blues before his move to Turkey in 2012.
Meireles has already been speaking with teams in Spain and Italy, including Cagliari, according to reports.
But now a handful of English clubs are after the experienced midfielder as they settle into the 2017-18 season.
73-cap Portugal international Meireles kicked off his career at Boavista, before moving to Primeira Liga giants Porto in 2004, where he spent six seasons.
His excellent form in his native country attracted the attention of Liverpool, where Meireles enjoyed a superb one-season stint.
Chelsea came knocking next season, with Meireles stunning the Reds by moving to their fierce rivals - where he would go on to win the Champions League in his only season in West London.
Meireles then shipped off to the Turkish Super Lig where he spent four seasons at Fenerbahce.
Now Leicester, West Brom, Watford and Swansea are hoping to add the experienced midfielder, as they look to improve just seven games into the Premier League season.
