Everton hand Idrissa Gueye five-year £75,000-a-week deal to ward off Premier League suitors
Senegal midfielder has been handed improved terms after his first full season at Goodison attracted interest from rivals
IDRISSA GUEYE will seal his new £4million-a-year deal at Everton this week.
He has now been offered a fresh five-year deal with his wages smashing through the £75,000-a-week barrier.
Ronald Koeman wanted Gueye’s future settled since the 28-year-old’s arrived from Aston Villa and emerged as a key player.
He had a buyout clause of £7.1million at Villa which Everton took up, with his value increasing following his performances since.
But this time there is likely to be a gentleman’s agreement that the club would listen to offers from Champions League clubs.
Chelsea were monitoring his situation when they were looking at central midfielders but eventually landed Danny Drinkwater.
Speaking about Gueye last week, Ronald Koeman said: “I’m really happy with him.
