Jamie Vardy set to play for Leicester against Bournemouth this weekend… despite not being fit enough for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania

CRAIG SHAKESPEARE has explained why Jamie Vardy will play for Leicester at Bournemouth on Saturday – but is not fit enough for England next week.

The 30-year forward was left out of Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad on Thursday for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.

Vardy has been in fine form in recent weeks and has scored in his last three outings against Chelsea, Huddersfield and Liverpool.

A hip injury that forced him off against the Terriers a fortnight ago has been causing him problems despite his rich vein in front of goal.

And Shakespeare says that careful management of that has stopped his side’s talisman from joining up with England.

Shakespeare explained: “Vardy had not trained until today (Thursday) because we’re managing his hip.

“You want to make sure the individuals are OK (when they are on international duty), because you want them to come back with a clean bill of health.

“With Jamie, we needed him to train today, we wanted him to train, but we’re managing him through a slight issue with his hip.”

After omitting Vardy from his squad, Southgate acknowledged that he expected the attacker to play this weekend.

And he also added that he was aware that Vardy has been needing injections after each match over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, Shakespeare says that £25million deadline day signing Adrien Silva is like a kid with a ball without any friends as his transfer saga looks nowhere near to being resolved.

Bizarrely, strict Fifa rules allow the 28-year-old to train at Leicester’s Belvoir Drive Training complex every day – but the frustrated midfielder can only watch his new mates going through their paces through a WINDOW.

Almost a month has passed since the Foxes failed to complete the Silva’s proposed move from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day …. by 14 seconds.

Leicester, backed by the FA have asked Fifa to relax their tough stance, but are still awaiting an official response from the game’s governing body.

Shakey added: “He is okay but he has his little moments of course,” Shakey revealed. “Coach can I come outside?” he asks. ‘Just look through the window,’ I reply.

“Being able to train (in the gym) is keeping him in and around it. But we also know that legally we have to do what is right as well.”
