Burnley receive apology from Ladbrokes after club’s OWN sponsor trolls them
BURNLEY have received an official apology from Ladbrokes after a social media post following the Premier League side’s loss to Leeds United at Turf Moor.
Ladbrokes are the Clarets “official UK betting partner”, but tweeted an emoji of a raised middle finger with the message “Yours sincerely, Leeds fans £LUFC”.
The message was aimed at former Leeds United pair Charlie Taylor and Chris Wood who both swapped Elland Road for Turf Moor in the summer transfer window.
Wood cost a Burnley club record £15million, while Taylor’s fee will be decided by a tribunal as his contract expired.
The Leeds faithful were not happy about the pair leaving Yorkshire to play in Lancashire and were given plenty of stick by the away fans during the game.
After Burnley took offence to the tweet, a spokesperson for the betting firm said: "They were very poorly conceived tweets which have since been deleted.
"It was only intended to be a bit of fun but failed, and we have already apologised to Burnley FC.
"We would also like to apologise to any fans that took offence."
