Arsenal vs Cologne: German fans ‘dressed up in Gunners shirts and brought Red memberships to sneak into the Emirates’
AN ARSENAL supporter has revealed how Cologne fans donned Arsenal jerseys and brought Red memberships to sneak into Emirates Stadium.
Up to 20,000 Germans marched into North London, with the Bundesliga club only allocated 2,900 seats.
The game had to be delayed by an hour after hooligans stormed Emirates, where they clashed with stewards inside the ground.
Gunners fan Walid Mohamed Bin Abdul-Hai, 31, of Hounslow, West London, who sits in Block 9 in the North Bank said: "It's absolute chaos.
"Cologne fans have brought Arsenal shirts and Red memberships and have somehow got into the ground. How it's going ahead is anyone's guess.
"It should be cancelled. We had to wait outside for ages and it was dangerous. It's an odd atmosphere inside the ground.
"There has to be thousands of Cologne fans in the home end. We're not sure what is going to happen, but hear the game is going ahead, I'm not sure how."
A Red membership is essential for fans to be able to buy tickets to watch the FA Cup champions in action.
Of course the match did go ahead, with Cologne racing into a 1-0 lead thanks to a wonder strike from Jhon Cordoba.
Koln fans brought Oxford Street to a standstill earlier this afternoon as they marched in their numbers through the busy street.
While inside the stadium, police officers and dogs had to intervene to diffuse the hostile situation at the Emirates.
A video posted on Twitter has shown how cops have been forced to use their batons outside the ground.
