Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly joins Celtic fans in You’ll Never Walk Alone rendition hours after Ibrox visit
CHELSEA legend Marcel Desailly sang You’ll Never Walk Alone with Celtic fans – just hours after recalling Marseille’s controversial Euro triumph over Rangers.
Desailly – covering the Hoops’ Champions League clash with PSG for BeIN Sports – was at the heart of the Marseille squad who edged out Walter Smith’s Gers to reach the European Cup Final in 1993.
They beat the Frenchman’s next employers Milan 1-0 to lift the famous trophy, with bribery and doping allegations overshadowing the triumph ever since.
Desailly also helped the French national team win back-to-back World Cups and European Championships in 1998 and 2000.
And ex-Premier League star took a trip down memory lane at Ibrox yesterday, nearly 25 years after the Light Blues held Marseille to a 2-2 draw.
He posted footage of his visit on Twitter, calling it “retro”.
Five hours later he took a video of himself singing Celtic’s anthem in front of a packed stand before taking his place in the TV studio.
This summer Gers legend John Brown said allegations about Marseille in their Champions League winning season had left a “bitter taste”.
