West Ham proving to be major hit with Latin America fans with huge shirts sales to Mexico and North America after the signing of Javier Hernandez

The ex-Manchester striker is proving to be influential with supporters, as such the Hammers have created a Spanish language Facebook account

WEST HAM's summer signing Javier Hernandez has made as big an impact off the pitch as he has on it.

Since the 29-year-old's arrival back into the Premier League, nearly one in five Hammers shirts sold online have been shipped off to Mexico and North America.

Such has been the interest from Latin America that Slaven Bilic' side have set up a Spanish language Facebook account - which already has more than a quarter of a million supporters from the other side of the Atlantic.

The Mexican striker, who is the country's all-time leading goalscorer with 48 goals in 97 caps, attended a signing session with Pablo Zabaleta at the London Stadium this week and the queues were nearly five hours long.

Chicharito said: “I am delighted that my football fans from my own country are taking such an interest in my new club, and the welcome I have received from West Ham fans has been incredible.

"I can’t wait to play in front of 60,000 home fans at London Stadium and I am fully focused on repaying the support by scoring goals for West Ham United.”

Of course the East London outfit haven't been able to play at their home ground this season due to the World Athletics Championship's held in the capital this summer.

All three of their top-flight games have been played away, and after picking up a total of zero points, are rooted to the bottom of the table.

They will finally be able to welcome their own fans to the London Stadium next Monday when they face a tricky tie against newly-promoted side Huddersfield Town.

The poor run of form has intensified pressure on manager Bilic, who could be out of a job if they fail to pick up three points against the Terriers next week.

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is the favourite to succeed the Croatian should he be given the sack.

Protests are expected to be held by fans against the club's owners - David Sullivan and David Gold, with a win the only way to lift the mood for Hammers supporters.

Hernandez will be looking to net his third goal in a West Ham shirt after hitting a brace against Southampton in a 3-2 defeat.
