Mustafi is set to join Inter Milan this summer after just one season in the Premier League.

After their horrific start to the 2017-18 season, most recently losing 4-0 away to Liverpool, Wenger is keen to bolster his attacking ranks.

Arsenal have a gaping hole in the centre of defence, with Laurent Koscielny the only consistent member in the heart of the back-line.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has been keen to land Evans in recent weeks, but have rejected two offers already as they hold out for at least £30million.

While the Etihad giants appeared to be the only club in the running for the West Brom man, Wenger has now thrown Arsenal's name into the mix.

Leicester also saw a £21m bid turned down this week.

The French boss even made a move for the former Manchester United centre-back, 29, last summer - only to see his advances rejected.

While Arsenal and City go head-to-head for Evans, they are also involved in arguably the transfer saga of the summer.

Guardiola is still keen to land Alexis Sanchez from the Gunners - and a move looks to be on the cards after the Chilean reportedly handed in a transfer request.

Arsenal have claimed Sanchez has done no such thing, while City are happy to add Raheem Sterling into any deal in order to facilitate a move.
