Liverpool did everything in their power to sign more players this summer, says frustrated manager Jurgen Klopp
JURGEN KLOPP insists that Liverpool did all they could to bring in new blood this summer.
The Reds did sign attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah, defender Andrew Robertson and young striker Dominic Solanke.
But there has been frustration... most notably the failure to land central defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton and striker Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.
Manager Klopp, whose team face Arsenal on Saturday, reckons the main issue is coming up against clubs unwilling to sell.
The German coach revealed his side “convinced” players to move to Anfield, but that their current clubs would not play ball.
He said: “'It's not about us, it's not about money sometimes. It's not about us. Sometimes it's just not possible.
"We convinced all the players we spoke to. We didn't have to tell them 'maybe we play Champions League' and then call them now (and remind them), but it's not about us.
"Until August 31 that's how the business is. A lot of things are really possible. Ins and outs. That's the way it is."
TOP PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER STORIES
Whatever may happen between now and next Thursday, Klopp is okay with Liverpool's summer transfer business.

As for Philippe Coutinho and his Barcelona transfer saga, Klopp confirmed the Brazilian won't face Arsenal but could link up with Brazil in the international break.
"In this moment he is on our injury list, that's how it is and hasn't changed," added Klopp.
"I have no idea. I was not in contact so far with the Brazilian FA. But the rules are if they want to see and check him then he has to go there.
"That's how it is and I don't know exactly but I think it will happen. Then we'll do it. It's no problem."
