Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola chasing another full-back as he lines up bid for Espanyol’s Aaron Martin
Manchester City look to continue their spending spree with young Spanish defender who has also caught Manchester United's and Barcelona's attention
MANCHESTER City's expensive defence could become even more costly as Pep Guardiola looks to add Espanyol's Aaron Martin to the line up.
The 20-year-old Spanish defender has reportedly been on City's radar for several months but has a 30million euro (£27.5m) termination clause in his contract.
City have reportedly offered 20m euros to bring the left back to the Ethiad who, unsurprisingly, has a preference for his left-foot.
The young Spaniard is a versatile player and has also played left-mid for Espanyol who finished eighth in La Liga last season.
Acquiring another defender would provide back-up for City's summer signings, particularly for their expensive left-back Benjamin Mendy.
City already boast the most expensive defence in football history and further expenditure could strengthen their squad, particularly at the back.
Guardiola continues his spending spree eyeing up home grown players too, but has had several clubs shut their door and tell him players are not for sale.
He has just over a week until deadline day to secure any additions to his squad.
Martin came through the ranks at Espanyol and made his debut for the first team in 2015.
He has international experience having played for Spain at U19 level.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that Jose Mourinho was eyeing up the Spanish player, but his advances were rebuffed and a move to his Manchester neighbours could be more likely.
Barcelona also expressed an interest in the defender, but have shifted their focus elsewhere
