Clucas has been earmarked as a replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson after the Icelandic midfielder moved to Everton last week for a massive £45m.

Hull had previously rejected a £12m move from Swansea for the 26-year-old - the deal will include a further £1.5m in performance-related add-ons.

He has played in three Championship games this season - but was left out of the squad this weekend by manager Leonid Slutsky.

The Russian said: "I think he is going to another club. I don't know absolutely, but I think yes. I don't know (which club) but it's Premier League.

"I think there will be official information. It's his decision. I only listen to information - I don't take part in negotiations. I think a deal will be in some days."

But Clucas denied he was on strike, Tweeting: "I didn’t and would never do that to a club I owe a lot."

Clucas played in all but one Premier League game last season, scoring three goals for Hull.

He was one of Hull's stand out players last season as the Tigers were relegated.

The former non-League star, who played for Hereford United, Mansfield Town and Chesterfield before moving to the KCOM, had also been linked with a move to Burnley and Huddersfield Town.

Speaking after the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, Swansea boss Paul Clement admitted the team needed to strengthen.

He said: "The need (to strengthen) has been reinforced by the performances and the results.

"The moment Gylfi's going you know you need to strengthen. Without him, Llorente and Ki (Sung-yueng) we are weaker.

"We still have a good squad, but we absolutely need more quality players to come in so we have a chance of being competitive this year."
